You wander around Walmart. Now you can wander about the Dayton area with a fun group of like-minded individuals. These meet-ups for active agers may include anything from volunteer experiences to dining out to entertainment and everything in between. The goal of the group is to create a vibrant community of adventurers who enjoy socializing, meeting new people, giving back to the community and just having fun! Although there is currently no fee to be in this program, pre-registration is required for all activities as some destinations have entrance fees and require advance payment. Ages: 55+ Tour & Lunch Adventure: Great Council State Park & Cherry House Cafe Meet at the Great Council State Park/Native American Indian Museum. It has been open a year and is centered on Shawnee and natural histories and is located at the site of the now-demolished Tecumseh Motel. The highlight is a three-story, 12,000 sq ft interpretive center modeled after a traditional Shawnee longhouse from the 1700s. In it are historic displays, a small theater, a rotating art gallery, a gift shop and hands on exhibits and activities. Afterwards you can stop at Cherry House Cafe for a wide selection of delicious sandwiches, salads, entrees, soups and bakery items in a very “homey” and comfortable setting with a menu that’s updated regularly. America’s Packard Museum houses the largest collection of Packard automobiles and memorabilia anywhere in the world, with cars from 1903 to 1956. Please bring $10 cash for the museum entrance fee. Following the tour, head over to Old Scratch Pizza where they’ve been slinging some pretty awesome pies since 2016. They have stayed true to their roots by providing fresh, house made dough and a number of creative pies. Enjoy this laid-back atmosphere, high quality food ingredients and a spacious communal beer hall setting. Pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is August 1. Chef Greg Fitzgerald has 40 years of experience in the Dayton area and was the former owner of Blue Moon Bistro in the Oregon District. The Station House is located at The Franciscan Center at St. Leonard’s campus. Pre-registration is required. Registration deadline is July 7.
