Using play, songs, and/or games Parents will be led by the instructor in water acclimation techniques to help children become comfortable and safe in and around water. Skills covered may include entering and exiting a pool, blowing bubbles, paddling, kicking, floating and underwater exploration. Next level based on ability to perform skills with prompting and support from parent and/or instructor. Skills covered may include swimming on front with assistance, underwater exploration, retrieving a submerged object, glides, and floating. Skills covered may include water entry and exit, floating, gliding, swimming on front, swimming on back, and treading water. Skills covered may include jumping into deep water, front, jellyfish, and tuck floats, recovering from glides and floats, and swimming on front and back independently. This course will focus on advancing strength and endurance for participants to gain the ability to float for 10 seconds and swim for short distances using rotary breathing. Skills covered may include entering water in shoulder-deep water, treading water, bobbing consecutively, front, jellyfish, and tuck floats, recovering from glides and floats, and change in direction while swimming on front or back independently.
