52 Embroidery Primer This workshop is an embroidery crash course. Participants are introduced essential tools, materials, and techniques including transferring their designs or favorite drawings onto fabric. Participants leave with the skills and knowledge to complete their projects and craft beautiful, custom gifts or keepsakes. Supplies included. Students review threading, stitches, tension, bobbins, bobbin winding, parts of the machine, accessories and trouble shooting. Students have 2 easy practice projects to learn seam allowance, precision, stitch lengths and widths. Students should bring a small sewing kit, thread and machine (optional). Clogging is a percussive American folk dance from the Appalachian Mountains, similar to tap. This class covers traditional and modern steps set to a variety of music. Clogging or tap shoes are recommended; any well-fitting hard- soled shoe works (gym shoes are allowed, but low-traction shoes are best). Open to participants under 16 with instructor permission. Students create unique artwork while learning the basics of the Lumen and Cyanotype methods. Students must bring 2 yards of cotton fabric, matching thread and 1-2 yards of 1inch wide elastic (not suitable for plaid matching). Students must be comfortable threading and using a sewing machine.
